The best part of the job.

It makes me so happy to receive a little note of thanks like the one below!

It is absolutely the best part of my job to know that something I have created can make someone happy.. big smiles all round!

Website Wednesday

Today has been website wednesday !

I have been busy updating my portfolio with my branding , creative production , wedding stationery , publication and private commissions from over the past year.

As we have started a new year, I have promised myself that I will post to my website and give it the love it deserves! So watch this space…

Here’s to 2017!

Here’s to #2017 and all the exciting possibilities it will bring!

I wanted to share just a few of my favourite projects from the last year – I love how diverse my job can be and how it continues to challenge and inspire me everyday.

I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

The Blind Tiger

Introducing the Blind Tiger Bar! I was commissioned by Bestival to create a hand drawn logo design and hand painted exterior artwork for the fabulous Blind Tiger Bar. As the new ‘hidden’ venue for 2015, my illustration was to be used to draw the crowd in by spotting the tiger in the woods, leading them inside! I am incredibly proud to show the creative production and development of my latest work.

Cabaret Noir

I am incredibly proud to show the photos of my most recent commission for Green Eye Productions to produce the branding and hand painted interior and exterior artwork for the fabulous Cabaret Noir at this years Isle of Wight Festival! Here are the original illustrations and creative production photos that show how Cabaret Noir went from concept to reality!

The Octopus Bar

In August I had the pleasure of creating a bespoke venue design for the fabulous Ventnor Fringe Festival

Originally created by a team of local students in 2010 the festival follows the core principles of the famous Edinburgh Fringe that inspired it, in which any artist can take part. Since then, the Ventnor Fringe has gradually grown into one of the Island’s most exciting new festivals, attracting more than 300 performers in 2014 from all over the world

I was commissioned to hand paint a giant octopus onto their ‘Observatory Bar’ which sits above the seafront overlooking Ventnor Beach..

Isle of Arts.

I’ve had the pleasure of being involved in the Arts Trail for the fabulous Isle of Arts , coming to our very own Ventnor this weekend!

The Arts Trail provides festival goers with the opportunity to discover a spectacular collection of paintings, sculptures and other Art installations. Mostly created by Island artists, they are displayed in a number of venues around the town and seafront and well worth a stroll through the town during your visit to the festival! Many are for sale, and some of the artists are happy to take commissions too!

Here’s the my hand-drawn map created to guide you through the town to each venue!

‘Your Badgers Need You!’

Introducing my latest collaboration with Island Eco-fashion brand Rapanui.. ‘Your Badgers Need You!

Your Badgers Need You Illustration - Katy Rose

I have designed a limited edition organic t-shirt to celebrate the work of the Badger Trust. They make up a key part of Team Badger, a coalition of groups who’ve been in the news recently for campaigning against the planned cull of Badgers in 2012, now postponed until 2013. All the money from the sales will go towards fundraising for the badger trust and to show our support and promote the #stopthecull petition, launched by Brian May.

Introducing Mr. Skirrel

Introducing Mr. Skirrel!

I’ve been wanting to draw a little tribute to our native red squirrels that thrive on the Isle of Wight. They are a constant source of amusement in my family since a rather unfortunate incident that I had with one of the critters when i was 2. The squirrel in question, leapt into my arms and  stole my ‘biddit’ (the Mcvities variety), to my distress. I would imagine that to anyone reading this, it is probably one of those, ‘you had to be there’ kind of stories but nevertheless these opportunists are constantly referred to and anything squirrel related is collected to make us smile. So here he is, my addition to the collection.
